The below events are signature Clarkston Cultural Arts events:
Poetry Slam - All ages welcome to recite your original poetry at the gazebo in Depot Park. Held in June and August, 7pm. Free.
Easels in the Park - All ages welcome to paint during the Concerts in the Park (hosted by the Clarkston Area Chamber of Commerce), in Depot Park. Materials provided, donations encouraged. Children must be supervised. Painting begins at 6pm.
Recycled Art at the Clarkston Area Farmers’ Market - Show off or sell your art made with recycled or repurposed materials, 9am-Noon. Held once a month, June-September.
Tunes and Tales - Bring a blanket and a song or story to tell. Marshmallows and bonfire provided. Great evening for families! Donations appreciated. Held at Deer Lake Beach. Tunes and Takes for children begin at 8pm (until 9pm); program continues until 10pm.
Grave Rubbings - Explore different methods of grave rubbings, learn a little about symbolism and local history. Some materials provided, donations appreciated. Lakeview Cemetary, meet at the flagpole, Noon-1pm. Held July and September.
Chalk Art - Small spaces to add color to the Park and streets. Chalk provided. Suggested donation is $2/hour/child. Chalk Art booth appears at both Kids Day in the (Clintonwood) Park at 10am and Taste of Clarkston at Noon.
Volunteers are needed to lead and assist on all events and programs. Volunteers can be 14+. Email us if you are interested in helping with any of our events. Have a new idea you’d like to offer? Let us know that too.
